Evangelism

YouthPastor Richard Chinander is the Outreach Pastor. He loves bringing people of all ages and walks of life to a knowledge that Jesus loves them and has purpose for their lives. In the process of teaching people about Jesus he wants them to realize that Jesus came that they might be saved and to know that their eternity is secure.

To fulfill I Corinthians 9:22 that says, "For the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some." (NAS)

In following this Scripture he teaches people to leave tracts and business cards at restaurants with their tips, and to be bold enough to ask them if they need prayer. He goes to the hospital and prays for the sick and injured without any expectation of them coming to our church; just praying for the sick as Jesus taught. This does bring results.

Matthew 28:18-20 says, "And Jesus came up and spoke to them saying," ‘All authority has been given to me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ " (NAS)

Going into all the world sometimes means our city and surrounding areas, our work places, our schools and parks. We do this by:

  • Servant evangelism - giving away water and pop at events, or giving gifts in the name of Jesus, and inviting people to church.
  • Random acts of kindness - giving of our talents, fixing cars, giving rides, yard work, or just a simple helping hand.
  • Friendship evangelism - just being there to listen, a visit, or a phone call to see how things are going, giving rides to church or to the store, helping out with moving, or just being there for that hug when things don't go right.
  • Movie nights
  • Fellowship dinners
  • Demonstrating the love of Christ.

When we invite people to church we remind them that church needs to fulfill three purposes:

  • We must learn something.
  • We need to feel God.
  • We need to have fun.

If any of these three are out of place we are not fulfilling our purpose in the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20.
